For the 2022 model year, Mercedes-Benz makes waves with the debut of its first all-electric sedan. The EQS is marvelously engineered to impress drivers daily with its capabilities and luxuries. It will quickly be followed by the 2023 EQE, an all-electric midsize sedan that is equally appealing. With these premium all-electric sedans available in the Mercedes-EQ lineup, you may easily feel torn between the possibilities. What are the differences between the EQE and the EQS?

Performance

The differences between these models begin under the hood. The EQE is the more affordable of the two options. Its battery pack has a 400-mile range, and its single-engine generates 288 horsepower. A full charge on a standard charger is achieved in 9.5 hours, and a fast-charging device can produce an 80-percent charge in approximately 30 minutes. The EQS, on the other hand, is offered with two powertrain configurations. The single-motor design has rear-wheel drive, and it generates 329 horsepower. The range is 350 miles. The dual-motor design is a 4MATIC® all-wheel drive vehicle. It produces 516 horsepower and has a range of up to 422 miles.

Appearance

There are also differences in the exterior style of the EQE and the EQS. Both of these vehicles have a curvaceous profile with a forward-leaning cabin and a glossy, black grille. On the EQE, this grille has a smooth façade, and it is integrated with brilliant LED lights that are beautifully curved and angled. The three-part lower-front fascia adds a sporty touch. The rear has a taillight bar, a black bumper, and a lip spoiler. The EQS has vertical bars running through its glossy grille. The angled headlights have a wedge-like shape for a sharp look. The three-part lower fascia is accented by horizontal bars for distinction. At the rear, the lip spoiler is better defined than the EQE's lip spoiler. The taillight bar also has angled light ribbons for a modern look. Rear air vents flank the black bumper.

Features

Both of these vehicles come with exceptional interior and safety features. These include leather material, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, voice recognition, blind-spot monitoring, parking assistance, auto emergency braking, the MBUX infotainment system, and more. They also both have a Hyperscreen, composed of two central display screens and a third passenger display screen. The EQS has slightly larger screens. The EQS also stands apart with a few premium features in the higher trim levels. These include a rear charging pad, memory, and massaging functions, a heads-up display screen, a fragrance and air filtration system, and more.
