2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA vs 2019 BMW X1

Serving Fort Mitchell, KY

The battle of the modern-day SUV wages on in 2019. The Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 and the BMW X1 are some of the most versatile SUVs on the planet thanks to their vast array of features. Both vehicles do a great of matching up quite closely, but only one will take the top position for 2019. Let’s see what each SUV has to offer.

Exterior Styling

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 is brilliantly designed with a powerful presence. This SUV is quite muscular in appearance with its track-tuned body. Big wheels and a long wheelbase gives it an enormous amount of capability while on the roadways. Consumers can expect 19-inch AMG® wheels, but there’s an upgrade for 20-inch AMG® wheels. This vehicle displays a clean and crisp exterior. Mercedes has also implemented some body contours for added character. Consumers can choose from several exterior colors, such as cardinal red, brilliant-blue metallic, black, Mohave-silver metallic, and more.

The 2019 BMW X1 looks phenomenal from every angle of view. This SUV shares a similar physique as its competitor thanks to its muscular frame and body contours. The front grille of the BMW X1 is the showstopper. This kidney-shaped grille sits between two sets of LEDs. The lower fog lights could be a bit more impressive thanks to their lack of craftsmanship. BMW offers a variety of exterior colors, such as Mediterranean-blue metallic, mineral gray, dark olive, jet black, and alpine white.

Interior Styling

The GLA 250’s cabin is the lap of luxury. This vehicle has been laced in an abundance of premium upholstery. Of course, Mercedes uses Nappa leather, but this premium style of leather has been handcrafted to perfection. In addition to that, multiple individuals can fit quite comfortable, and there are heated/vented front seats. This luxury SUV’s interior also possesses a panoramic sunroof that lets in plenty of natural light.

The X1 from BMW also has an impressive interior with its 40/20/40 split-fold seats and brushed-metal finishes. This spacious cabin can comfortably seat five people, and the rear seats have sliding/reclining capability. Storage compartments are also present in the cabin, but BMW missed the mark with the vehicle’s outdated-looking controls. Passengers can expect to get at least 58.7 cubic-feet of cargo space when the rear seats are folded.

The new GLA 250 has been equipped with a powered liftgate as well as an impressive touchscreen display. This display is quite crisp in detail, and it hosts many applications. For connectivity purposes, Mercedes has incorporated Android Auto technology. Apple iPhone users will love the embedded Apple CarPlay technology. For hands-free capability, Bluetooth® functions have been added, and there’s a myriad of preventive-safety features.

The new X1 has powered front seats as well as a brilliant Head-Up display. This display shows real-time driving information on the windshield. BMW utilizes several radar-based sensors. Advanced-technological features included are Lane Departure Warning, High-Beam Assist, and Forward-Collision Warning. Other technologies involved are Apple Maps, Apple CarPlay, and a rearview camera.

The battle was quite close, but the Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 outclasses its competitor in more categories overall. The BMW X1 is still an exceptional vehicle, but it falls just short.
