What’s New for the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV?
In 2020, the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV gets several new and notable features. The GLC, which classifies as a small luxury SUV, is the company’s best-selling crossover. It did not need many updates to retain its premium status among consumers, but it has some changes. This year, the Mercedes-Benz gets standard LED headlights and an intelligent lighting system with lights that turn in the direction you’re traveling. LED lights in the rear, redesigned exhaust tips, and a restyled bumper are notable changes in the 2020 model year. The refreshed interior includes an updated infotainment system and more safety technology. As for improved power, the GLC gets a turbocharged engine with four cylinders. The GLC features distinct styling in the 2019 model year with a thorough design update on the outside as well.
For the latest model year, the GLC gets a slightly sportier exterior style to match its stronger engine. The GLC’s exterior changes begin with standard LED headlights, which feature a slimmer design and a contoured grille. Adaptive high beams are another feature of the 2020 GLC. While many of its modifications are designed for safety, the GLC also gets some functional updates, too. This primarily comes in the form of a new skid plate, which is now lower, that reminds customers of the GLC’s off-road capabilities and durability. The GLC is available in two new paint colors this year (both grey), and it has a few more wheel choices with wheels ranging from 18 to 20 inches in size.
While the exterior changes make the 2020 GLC easy on the eyes, its improvements in the area of power make it easy and fun to drive. This year, the GLC comes with a new engine option, which is a turbocharged 2.0L engine with four cylinders. This engine produces 14 more HP than the outgoing base engine in the previous year. Now, you get a base HP of 255 with the GLC. The new engine also has 273 LB-FT of torque, which is two more LB-FT than last year’s base engine. In addition to gaining power, the engine also gets better fuel economy. A nine-speed automatic transmission is standard on all trim levels of the GLC, but you have the option of getting either all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive.
The GLC’s interior has always been luxurious, but now it gets more tech-savvy than ever. The infotainment screen is more user-friendly than in the past, with buttons placed on both the steering wheel and on the touchscreen itself. The infotainment system can also be controlled by voice. The infotainment screen comes in a standard size of 10.3 inches. However, you can upgrade to a 12.3-inch display screen instead. The screen is also available in three styles to suit your personality. These include Classic, Sport, and Progressive. The user-friendly screen features a wide-screen display for optimal visibility. The interior also features a Driver Assistance safety package with many driver-assist safety aids.
